Let's make it on a Monday!
at Preston under Scar Near Leyburn
Our felt making workshops are held in Preston under Scar Village Hall, DL8 4AJ. Our workshops will start at 10am so its good to come a little earlier to have a cuppa, start to relax and meet your fellow felters. We generally finish around 3.30pm.
All equipment and materials are provided. A small materials charge will apply depending on what we are making and this is included with each workshop listing. The cost for the day is £40 per person and includes tea/coffee and a light lunch.
Spring Blossom Necklace March 18th
We will make a felt cord and a felt flower, either naturalistic or stylised depending on your personal taste, to create a statement neckpiece you will be proud to wear. No materials charge.
Misty Landscapes April 15th
Always a popular workshop creating a picture similar to my signature work, spend the day creating a far away landscape using tonal value and fine silk fabric to create a distant vista and build up foreground interest with decorative fibres before wet felting to completion.
Materials charge £5.
Pebbles from the Beach June 10th
Combining needle felted and wet felting we will make pebbles reminiscent of a collection from our favourite beach using decorative fibres with wool to add the interesting patterns found on beach pebbles.
Materials charge £1 per pebble. See how many you can make!
Falling leaves Autumn Wallhanging Sept 9th
We will start the day making prefelts in a variety of autumnal shades and then build them into a 3D wallhanging either incorporating a method of hanging or to be framed if you prefer.
Materials charge £5
Poppy Brooch Oct 21st
Create a multi layered poppy flower with a felted centre, embellished with stitch and beads if you wish and then attached to a brooch back ready to fasten on your lapel for the Remembrance month of November.

Don't forget to still put your coins in the British Legion collection box even if you now have your own everlasting remembrance poppy.
3D Christmas tree Nov 25th
Make your own free standing mini three dimensional Christmas tree which can then be embroidered or beaded at home to be your centrepiece for the festive season.

I acquired the skills to make felt from the wonderful, world-renowned feltmaker Sheila Smith. I am pleased to say Sheila is now the president of the International Feltmakers Association and my friend. She has passed on the feltmaking bug to so many people, me included, and I am passing it on further.
The moment when a pile of fluff turns into a cohesive piece of solid felt is still a thrill for me.
If you feel you would like to experience that eureka moment, that thrill, then please contact me for details of our planned workshops.
If you would like a workshop to come to you then we can do that too.
