ABOUT

I had spent 17 years forging a career in the steel industry when I met my future husband, we had two beautiful children and I realised my career had taken a back seat so I walked away to pursue something more creative.

At age 14 I was told I was "rubbish at art" by my art teacher and I believed him.... until I was 42, cajoled into joining a watercolour class and realised, although watercolour is not my best medium I was quite clearly not "rubbish at art".  I started to explore a variety of crafts and discovered feltmaking with the wonderful an world renowned feltmaker, Sheila Smith.

I took my first felting class at ArtisOn in Masham in 2009. I was instantly hooked.  I ordered a pile of wool on the internet that evening and from that day on I have been an avid feltmaker.

Sheila has subsequently given up teaching feltmaking and in 2016 I was honoured when she suggested I take over teaching some of her classes.  Sheila is now President of the International Feltmakers Association and also now a personal friend.

In 2017, together with four friends who all met through felt making, we opened FLEECE, an artists co-operative in the beautiful Swaledale village of Reeth in North Yorkshire where we showcase and sell work from over 20 artists.
